The worst thing they can do is say no. FALSE.
In the MTC while training us to approach random strangers and invite them to learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ they encourage us by saying " The worst thing they could say in no". This week I found that statement to be extremely incorrect. What's worse than no? Well they could threaten to shoot you. On Thursday Neilson and I were going home from a dinner appointment. On our way back we decided to stop by a street referred to us by a member in the ward. It's this thing we do in our ward called refer a street. Members pray about a street and then give us that street to try to find people on it who will hear our message. Anyway we were going to stop by and knock this street, but when we got there it was getting dark and all the housed had very very steep drives so we felt like we should do it another day. We tried to turn around on the road but we couldn't because the road was really narrow and had hills on both sides so we followed it until we found a turn around. It was apart of someones driveway so we turned around and there was a deer chillin in the middle of the road. The deer around here are reckless okay. So we obviously waited a sec for the deer to cross and all of a sudden this guy comes out of his house and told us to roll down the window. We should not have done that. He then proceeded to say some choice words I am not allowed to repeat as a missionary of the Lord. He said we'd better get on or we were going to get shot and he was going to call the cops on us. That is the nicer version of it anyway, you can fill in the blanks. Pretty crazy. We tried to tell him we were sorry and just turning around but I'm not sure he cared. It's kinda funny now but at the time it made Sister Neilson and I feel like crap so we called Sister Guy, a ward missionary, and she came over and we ate cookie dough to help ease the pain. That's my crazy story for the week. The rest of week was uneventful but good as always. We have been knocking a lot of doors and doing a lot of finding because we really need some people to teach. We've met a bunch of nice people and have a few return appointments this week that i am super excited about. It's hard not to get overly excited when you find someone who wants to learn about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ because I can see how much it could bless them and their family. I can see their divine potential and fell just a portion of God's love for them. I just want them to find out this truth for themselves so bad! That keeps me going even when we get rejected and eaten alive by mosquitoes. It is worth it to find one soul who is ready to receive this true gospel. This weekend was pretty fun because of conference! It was so cool to hear messages from the Prophet and Apostles and leaders of the church. It was also cool to see some familiar faces in the MTC Choir! If you didn't watch General Conference you missed out. I'd say the themes were ministering and serving others and how God's love for us is very individual and can help us through any trial or problem we face. This is made possible because Heavenly Father gave his son to complete the everlasting and great atonement so we never have tto be alone. Seriously, even if you are not of this faith I encourage you to look at some of these talks on LDS.org. They can strengthen you through your trials and help you find truth and peace in this life and the next. Some of the announcements included 2 hour church instead of 3 hours starting in 2019 and 12 new temples! We were watching with sister Soto when they announced the temple in Puerto Rico. Sister Soto was yelling and clapping and crying because that is her home country and she is so excited for the people there to be able to receive the blessings of the temple. In temples we make covenants and promises with God and are able to be married and sealed to our families for eternity. Such cool stuff and its super exciting everyone around the world will have easier access to these eternal blessings. It was also homecoming week in Salem so I got Sister Soto's daughter Annastasia ready for the dance on Saturday. She is gorgeous and I just love that family. I am so grateful for modern day Prophets and revelation and for the atonement of Jesus Christ to help us through hard things. Prophets are evidence that God lives and that he loves us and guides us even today. I hope you all have the best week. As always thank you for the love support, letters, and prayers. Try not to get shot out there folks. Kloveyoubye Sister Fisher
