Hey y'all sorry about the late email. But I am not sorry about the library being closer on Memorial day. I am so grateful for those that have fought for and serve this great country. God bless those who have died protecting "their liberty, their lands, their wives, their children, and their peace". We honor them as we "joy in the liberty and freedom of [this] country". (Alma 48)
This week we met this awesome lady named Latoya. She is so sweet and counts our meeting as a blessing from God. She is loving reading the Book of Mormon and has such a humble and open heart. I can't wait to hopefully start teaching her more! Meeting with our other people has been going well and even though it's hard sometimes, we have been seeing so many mini miracles! Can't help but to enjoy those moments and just be grateful to be a servant of the Lord.
Sister Weiman got rather sick at the end of this week. Poor gal. So that included a trip to the urgent care, so strong meds, and frosties from Wendy's. She's feeling better now and bounced back like a champ. Especially because we have been biking quite a bit these days. Biking in the mid-day heat, up hills, in business casual....don't recommend. But whatever gets the work done. We also spoke at church on Sunday and that was a blessing. My talk was on self-worth. God is such a funny guy. You bet I made some notable Disney references.
My favorite one was one I saw recently posted by an lds website and I referenced some of it and added my own twist.
Simba, son of Mufasa, king of the pride lands, was so adventurous and full of excitement growing up. My favorite scene when he is singing I Just Can't Wait to be King, shows how eager he is to grow up and be just like his dad. He knows that he is of royal birth and can't wait to claim the throne one day. But, after Mufasa dies, Simba loses that. He literally runs away from everything including his life, his throne, his family and his responsibility. While living his "Hakuna Matata" lifestyle Simba wasn't doing necessarily anything bad or sinful. He was carefree, with no worries, living life by his terms. He was stagnant. Then he is finally opened up to see for a second who he really is. These are the words his dad says to him,
"You have forgotten who you are, and so you have forgotten me. Look inside yourself, Simba. You are more than what you have become. You must take your place in the Circle of Life. Remember who you are. You are my son and the one true king. Remember who you are."
I feel like it's so easy for us to live this complacent lifestyle like Simba and lose sight of who we are. But who are we? Like Simba, we are each of noble birth. We are literal spirit sons and daughters of a Heavenly King who loves each of us dearly. We are one generation away from deity and all have an eternal promise to be like God and live with him again. Satan knows the power of this truth so obviously wants to wreck it. It's such a win for him when we doubt our divine identity and self worth because we shift our focus from God to worldly things. Like Mufasa said, if we forget who we are we forget who Heavenly Father is and vise versa. That is a relationship I know I can't afford to lose. Always remember who you are. Your individual worth is something this world cannot comprehend.
Hope you enjoyed the Disney Doctrine for the week;) Love y'all so much and good luck to the fam bam at the Reno All American this week!
Kloveyoubye,
Sister Fisher
