Hello everyone. Not going to lie, this week was rough. Lots of curve balls. First one was on Tuesday night the APs (assistants to the President) called us and informed us that they were taking are car away and Salem is now going to be a walking area. First reaction: Are you freaking high?!... But knowing me I would never ask them that haha but seriously I thought they were pranking us. Turns out they were not pranking us and Thursday at 5:30 am we had to drop off our car to be taken forever. RIP. We also don't have bikes so feet it is. Im not going to mention my true feelings on this subject because they are not very Christlike;) All I'm going to say is that the only time walking 10+ miles a day is okay is in Disneyland. Yeah on the sidewalk-less streets of Salem it just isn't the same. The closest place we walk is a 40 minute walk so that means a lot, well most, of our days are spent walking. Everything is so spread out and a lot of our area we cant cover regularly now because it literally takes 18 hours to walk there. We checked. But it's okay walking is good for us and I've got pepper spray and a taser on hand always so no need to worry.
We were walking to Sister Soto's the other day, yes it's a 57 minute walk but we don't care because Soto is a queen and come hell or high water nothing is stopping us from getting over there. Any way we were walking and this sketch guy in a beat up pickup stops us and starts asking us questions. Like I am all about sharing the gospel and stuff but I was for sure glaring at him and had my taser locked and loaded. I've watched too much Criminal Minds for this crap...
Okay Thursday also was a drag because after walking for a hot minute we came home and got a call from our mission president. That sounds cool but no. Calls from him never have good news. I was freaked for a sec because I thought he was going to comment on my picture that I posted with my "not redbull" cans. lol but unfortunately it was another subject. Sister Neilson's grandma passed away. She was really close to her grandma and even lived with her for a long time. She obviously is so upset but I kid you not she is so stinking strong! Within the half hour we were on our way to a meal appointment and we had two lessons that night so we were running around all night doing that. I know that I wouldn't have been able to handle all that with such grace. We also had two lessons bail yesterday and that was hard. Her testimony is such a good example to me and I'm grateful for her strength and friendship even more than usual. Also I am so grateful for the Plan of Salvation and the knowledge that I have concerning what comes after this life. I don't know how people do without it.
Our lessons were good on Thursday. It's so cool the difference the spirit makes in my ability to teach. Some times during a lesson I'm shaky and can't explain things as well as I would like but then other times I feel so calm and strong and the words just flow. I find I have a hard time being bold so when it comes time when I need to say something blunt and bold it can be iffy. Lately though as I have just followed the spirit and say whatever it is that God would have me say it's been so much easier. I can't even really describe the feeling I guess. But I crave it. The happiness and strength and peace I get from those moments is just the best. And then being able to help others get the knowledge and truth of this gospel, gosh it's 10/10.
Okay funny story for this week. Sister Neilson was reading this book called Jesus the Christ. She stopped reading and asked me, "Fisher what does 'ee-you-ee' mean?" I was like oh my gosh this poor girl really is from California. haha I then explained to her that 'ewe' is pronounced 'you' and that it is a female sheep. She really is learning so much about sheep and onions. Probably more than she would like to know.
Oh shoot yeah and we dressed up as Grumpy and Dopey! I was Grumpy obviously. He's the best so it was an honor. But can I say people really need to educate their kids because at the trunk or treat all these kids kept saying I was Santa. Like no okay. Santa doesn't carry around a pick axe for one. Gosh "some people's kids"-Lori Idsinga.
Okay well I love y'all. Thanks as always for the sweets, packages, letters and emails! They literally brought me to tears this week because I don't deserve y'all. Have the best week and good luck to the Homedale boys at state football!
kloveyoubye,
Sister Fisher
