Hi everyone I finally have a cool missionary story to tell so I'm going to jump to the end of my week first to share that with you.
Okay so we are on bikes now. Bikes are hard. Especially in the wind and rain all day most everyday. But whatever still a blessing. Anyway we needed to go to Walmart on Friday because Sister Neilson broke her glasses so she had to get her eyes reexamined and order new glasses. It had been raining all day and we biked in the rain and cold for an hour to get to Walmart. Okay and a bunch of other random stuff happened and we were just tired and frustrated. Then a miracle. This guy comes up to us and was like hey y'all are the Mormon missionaries right?! We said yes. And he told us his story. Pretty much his name is Lorenzo and he is not a member but he loves listening to general conference talks and church material. He told us he read the Mormon bible (the Book of Mormon) a while ago but didn't know if it was true. He was praying that morning to know and he told God that if it were true to send me some Mormon missionaries. And in we walked.
Cool huh. Made biking in the cold rain worth it. It was so humbling to be the answer to someone's prayer and to be sent by God to help his children looking for answers. Pretty sweet. And hopefully we will get to teach him soon.
Back to the beginning of the week. Neilson and I have been on edge with this whole no car thing and some sketchy experiences and stuff biking. Anyway so Tuesday night we had a situation with the lights in our apartment acting up. You know just turning on and off whenever they want type stuff. So of course we called the elders (our zone leaders) freaking out. After laughing at us they came over to our apartment the next day and rededicated it. That pretty much means that they say a prayer and use their priesthood to set aside our apartment as a safe place where the spirit can reside. Let me tell you, it worked. Our apartment is officially dehaunted and it sounds dramatic but I can feel the difference the priesthood made. Then on Friday my bike broke and the elders (our district leaders) spent an hour fixing it and helping us to make sure we got home safely in the rain and stuff. So pretty much God bless elders. I am so grateful for them being nice and worthy priesthood holders. It's weird but I can like physically see the difference in the elders especially, but young men and men in general, who worthily hold the priesthood compared to those who do not.
Then during companionship study one day this week we were reading about priesthood blessings and I just got this distinct feeling of comfort, peace, and gratitude. I know this was the spirit testifying to me to power the priesthood has. And I use the word power a lot because it is this literal power from heaven to act in the name of Jesus Christ. This is what gives us the power to do things like blessings and baptisms. I am so lucky to have been able to grow up in a home where the priesthood was always present and available to me. It makes me so sure that when I have a family someday I want that same priesthood always in my home.
Okay so a funny story. On Wednesday we went over to a member's house to use their wi-fi so we could watch sister Neilson's grandmas funeral. Well they didn't want to leave their door unlocked during the day and they didn't know if they were going to be home or not so they left the window unlocked and told us to climb through it if they weren't home yet. Little sketch but we did. We were eating our lunch and about ready to start the funeral when there was a knock at the door. Weird. Cause the members weren't home yet so yeah. I opened the door to three cops. I almost peed my pants. Neilson almost cried. I guess someone saw us crawling through the window and called the cops on us! crazy. But they were nice and after we explained the situation they left us alone to watch the funeral, which was beautiful. I thought by not having a car I would be able to avoid the cops more but I guess not.
Overall this week was good but hard. Like I said bikes are a challenge but it's better than walking. But after mile 6 uphill I find myself singing primary songs like 'A Child's Prayer' which starts with "Heavenly Father, are you really there" .... not to be dramatic or anything but I spend 80% of my time on the bike literally praying we will make it lol. But yeah starting to get better legs so that's good. Our new favorite thing after a long day of biking is to go home and make hot coco with cinnamon and we make s'mores over the stove top. It's the little things.
That's pretty much it for the week. Oh and if you want some cute babies blessing your insta feed go follow Kassidy Lyn Greenway. She's my age and just had twins! She's a rockstar and I'm helping her be instafamous so go give her a follow. Jack Jack and Cat will bless your feed. Oh and a huge shout out to Spence and the Homedale boys on making it to the State Championships. I'm so proud of my stud of a brother and can't wait to here how they do come Saturday! Good Luck, Go Homedale!
Thanks for all your love support, packages, letters and emails as always. I love y'all!
