Hey everyone! Happy almost Thanksgiving!
This week has been one of those weeks were you're busy all the time and doing alot and then you look back and you don't really know what you did. or I guess nothing super eventful occurred. Does that make sense? On Tuesday we had Bishops storehouse! It was the one before Thanksgiving so there were a lot of orders and we bagged a bunch of turkeys and stuff for the holidays. We do that every two weeks and I always look forward to it. The elders come sometimes and help so that's always fun! We are way more fun then them though... or at least we think we are. Sister Neilson and I think we are a hoot and a half and we are always laughing and joking around so I honestly wonder if they really think we are funny or desperate for entertainment sometimes. On Wednesday we had our first lesson with our Walmart guy, Lorenzo! It went really well. He's the kind that wants a lot of hard evidence that something is real so we shared with him Jeffrey R Holland's testimony of the Book of Mormon and he loved it! We are going to hopefully meet with him this week again! We also got a new referral we are excited about. Her name is Chloie and she is 16 and super cute! We gave her a Bible and Book of Mormon so hopefully when we go back on Saturday we will get to teach her about the true restored church ya know;) Hmmm what else. We went to dinner with Brother Ferguson and his son Carter. They are great. For some odd reason Neilson has this weird obsession with wanting to eat all of these different peculiar animals starting with a squirrel. So Carter has agreed to be our squirrel guy and he said he will shoot and cook us a squirrel soon. bleh. Her list also includes a possum. Let's hope I'm not her companion when she gets to check that one off the list! Jokes though cause if eating a possum meant I could keep her as my companion forever I'd say a prayer, and then I would so do it! Last night we went over to Sister Soto's house and helped her put up her Christmas tree and she made us Pina Coladas, MY FAVORITE, virgin of course. but yeah I drank half of it by myself I think. We drank pina coladas and danced in front of the Christmas tree to Christmas and Latin music all night with her and Annastasia! She was surprised when a gringa like me could dance salsa and merengue. So. Much. FUN. We will also be having Thanksgiving with their family. I love them so much!
My spiritual thought for the week is what I have been reading in the Book of Mormon. I'm in what they call the "war chapters" in the book of Alma. I never have gotten a lot out of these chapters in the past when I've read through them, but this time it might be my favorite part of the whole book. I'm learning so much. Like gosh it's all about fighting for liberty and freedom and for your country. You know I'm all about that cause you know, America. And also about these awesome captains like Moroni and Helaman and Teancum. It really contrasts between righteous and unrighteous leaders and the difference that can make for a country. It has also been a big testimony to me about how true the origins of this book are. The war strategy and amount of detail involved proves that Joseph Smith did not write this book. He couldn't have. He could barely read and write let alone understand how to put together war strategy and timelines. I know he could've only translated this book through the power of God and that's it. Crazy cool you guys.
We have been seeing a lot of progress and blessings in Salem and with the people we are teaching. Very grateful to be a missionary this thanksgiving is all! I hope you have the best thanksgiving and recognize God's hand in your life no matter where you are this holiday season! Thanks for all the love, letters and support! kloveyoubye, Sister Fisher
