Good grief this transfer is just flying by. So we were pretty pumped earlier this week cause Elder D. Todd Christoffersen ( one of the 12 Apostles) came to the stake next to us and held a conference for the youth. It was quite the process but we got everything ready for our girls to go to this with our ward. We got them a ride, got their mom to fill out the permission slips and even got our mission president to approve us leaving our zone to go with them, which is a huge deal. That never happens. So they said they were going to go and we were so pumped canceled all our plans to make it happen and then they ended up canceling on us last minute. I might have cried. I was so sad we couldn't get those girls that spiritual experience that would've been a great anchor in their testimonies. As described by Cardi B, my heart is like a package with a fragile label on it. My heart gets hurt a lot out here on the mish because I want everyone to make and keep promises with God and often times they don't. A more spiritual quote that describes this feeling is by Jeffery R Holland. “The first thing you will do when an investigator tells you he or she had not read and prayed about the Book of Mormon is be devastated! . . . Much of the time we are just too casual about all of this. This is eternal life. This is the salvation of the children of God. Eternity hangs in the balance. . . . It is the most important path this investigator will ever walk. But if he or she doesn’t know that, at least you do! . . . So take control of this situation. Teach with power and authority, and then be devastated if the first steps toward commandment-keeping and covenant-keeping have not been successfully begun” Anyway pretty much I'm not mad at them or anything because I love them and know that they can't yet see how important this all is, but I hope they keep sticking to the lessons and readings. I am still excited for them. Gosh I just want the best for all these people. But don't worry all is well, whenever I do feel sad i go to Sister Soto's and she gives me a big hug and a kiss, feeds me yummy food, and then sends me back out to work. I love her. In other news, we started teaching a Spanish family this week! When they opened the door I said my memorized introduction in Spanish and then they told us to come in. The rest was a mess because I literally only know that intro and that was the extent of my Spanish. haha but miraculously we got a return appointment! So we went back. Sister Soto couldn't make it so we were on our own again and that was scary! We got a Spanish Book of Mormon and this time I also memorized a short testimony so not a lot to work with. Thank heavens for google translate. we put it in conversation mode and were able to teach the wife, Maritza most of the first lesson. It was seriously so fun though! We are going back tomorrow and her husband and Sister Soto should be there so that'll be great. Just in case though I have been studying the second lesson in Spanish like a mad woman. Unfortunately a very white mad woman. Your girl needs to work on rolling her Rs. Now let me tell ya, I do not miss working in a nursing home but on Saturday we had the sweetest experience with a 93 year old sister in our ward, Lucile. The Bishop told us to check on her and that he's been thinking about her. Wow it was an answer to her prayers because she was so so happy to see us. She definitely has some dementia but her love of the gospel is still there. She said that us coming to see her and talk to her about the gospel was the best thing that has happened to her and she gave us a big kiss on the cheek to thank us. We told her we were the missionaries and representatives of Jesus Christ and she told us, "Oh I know. I could tell cause I could just see it in your pretty faces." I don't know who was more touched by that visit, her or me. Some fun things this week... We had dinner with the Trents and Sister Trent made us Lamb! It's a Greece dish called souvlaki. Wow it was friggin' good. Best lamb I've ever had. Also, I got to try on Brother Ferguson's sweet fox hat (pictured). He said his buddy from Idaho sent it to him. Pretty neat stuff and I'm looking into getting me one of my own even though the claws that lay on my shoulders freak me out a little. haha We were asked to write down a brief testimony of the Book of Mormon and about our favorite Book of Mormon missionary in preparation for zone conference so I am going to share those with you as my spiritual thought for the week. Probably on a separate page but be sure to check them out because they mean so much to me! Okay thanks for all the packages, letters and love this week! I can feel your prayers! have the best week!
