Happy spring break! Or unhappy spring break for missionaries serving on a college campus. All the Hokies have flown south or west or anywhere but here so I have a feeling this next week is going to be pretty dead... This last week was good though! First part of the week was pretty basic stuff nothing exciting. We are still teaching a couple ladies English and that's going well..as long as Sister Stoker is doing most of the teaching. While I love teaching the gospel I have learned that I am not good at teaching much else. God hasn't blessed me with the heart of a teacher or with much patience. It's going to take a lot more work on my part to develop both of those. Thursday was a blessed day. It was transfers so while Sister Wolfly and SISTER NEILSON were waiting for their new companions they got to hang out with Sister Stoker and I for the whole day. WOW. We tracted and did finding literally all day but it was one of my favorite days yet. I mean when you're in the presence of a queen it's hard not to have a good time... The weekend went back to basic, but we had some good lessons and meetings! Hayes is learning a lot and coming to church on a regular basis so that's great! It's really cool to see how far he has come! We haven't gotten to have most of our other usual appointments because they've all left for spring break adventures so that was lame. But it's okay, with the free time we will do our best to find new people to teach! Come follow me is a study manual for the New Testament members study on a weekly basis. It was really great this last week and I feel like I got even more out of it than usual. One of the things that stood out to me was the story of Christ healing the paralyzed man in Mark 2:1-12. Pretty much this man is paralyzed and could not get to the Savior because of the crowd that was around him. So they uncovered the roof of the room where the Savior was and lowered a bed with the sick man down to Him. What made me marvel was how great of love this mans friends had for them. Think about all the work that it would take to get the paralyzed man to Jesus. They would've had to make the bed and carry him through the city and then uncover the roof and carefully lower their sick friend down through the roof. They literally did everything necessary to get their friend to the Savior because they knew He could heal him. We should really evaluate our relationships and compare them to this example. Are your friends and the people you surround yourself with helping you get to the Savior? Would they carry you through the streets and do all they could to help you reach Him and partake of His atonement? Are you willing to do this for them? I just realized how important it is for us to surround ourselves with people who will push us spiritually in the right direction. If you really love someone you will want them to be happy, to love their Savior, and to experience the peace and joy that comes through using the atonement of Jesus Christ and following His gospel. And in if they love you they will want this for you as well. I'm so grateful for the friends and family I have in my life that push me towards the Savior. I know I could count on them if there ever was a time that I needed to be carried through the city and lowered from a roof to get to Christ. I have a feeling they might just throw me down through the roof though... to be fair, I probably would've said something smart to provoke that. ;) Anyway thank you for all the letters love and support. I love y'all so much and hope you each have a great week. Did I mention the gospel of Jesus Christ is true and that the restored church is on the earth today lead by a prophet of God? Cool stuff.
